Chasing the Dream
A dream can start anywhere, at any moment and when it’s born, we don’t always realize it. Maybe that’s because some seeds are watered and grow while some are left unwatered and therefore don't grow.
For me (Cassidy), I was 16. It was 2010 and I had just received my first camera. A pink Polaroid I830 to be exact. I know, not the glorious start some people have. For me, it was the birth of something that became a major passion; capturing a moment. Sure, some start on nicer cameras, and what a blessing that is. I just knew I loved clicking that shutter button and watching an idea become a reality.
I don’t know if I’ve said it enough already, but I LOVED TAKING PICTURES! My sister Chelsea and I would model for each other, I did self portraits, I’d take the camera on youth events, sporting events, you name it. I was THAT girl, everyone knew it, and I did not care because I was improving my skill.
Fast forward several years and several camera upgrades later where my love and knowledge of photography had grown. In 2019, I met my husband to be (Ben). He was very different from me (in the best ways). So different to the point that this man had never picked up a camera! Nonetheless, when we started dating, he took interest in what I took interest in. We went on a camping trip together and he begged me to bring my camera. That’s where his love with photography began. He nerded out over it. In a different way than I, though I still loved it. He loved something that meant so much to me and it became a bonding instrument for us.
As we were dating, our relationship became more serious and so did Ben’s encouragement to take my photography hobby and turn it into something more. Sure, I had done some paid gigs here and there, but I was more consumed by school and other things, which had me putting photography on the back burner. Yet, he knew I loved it and he believed in me, he always believed in me. Of course over the years, maybe the dream in me dimmed slightly, I mean gotta get a “real job” to pay the bills right? Well, dating Ben and eventually getting engaged to him reignited that dream. It became a dream for the both of us. He loved it as much as me, which encouraged me to start being more intentional and driven with this business. Together we had a new found motivation and after we got married in October 2021, we decided to make it official.
Royall Media LLC was then established in January 2022.
Now 16 year old me is living her dream 10+ years later. At times, it’s totally not glamorous and managing a business together while also learning to be a husband and wife isn’t always easy; but we wouldn’t change a thing. To birth a dream together is something special. Something not everyone gets to do. Now a year and 11 weddings later, our first year of business is through and it has thrived beyond our belief. We love doing this together. We can’t help but thank God for blessing us and our business in 2022.
We look forward to 2023 and the growth that comes with it and we are so thankful to all who have helped us get to where we are. This is just the beginning and a look into our lives. We look forward to sharing more!
